Home care in your own language

We have carers who speak Punjabi, Hindi, Nepali, Polish and Urdu. When someone is cared for in the language they feel most at home in, everything from a morning wash to a cup of tea feels easier.

Why it matters

Being understood is part of good care

Many older people learned English later in life. With age, illness or dementia, it often becomes harder, and people rely more on their first language.

The Alzheimer’s Society explains that people who speak more than one language often lose the one they learned later first. A carer who speaks their first language can ease confusion, explain what’s happening and offer real company.

We match more than language

Speaking the same language is the start. We also think about everything else that makes someone feel at home.

Faith and prayer

Time and space for prayer, and support to get to the gurdwara, mandir, mosque or church.

Food

Halal, vegetarian and familiar home-cooked meals, made the way they like.

Female or male carers

A carer of the same gender for personal care, on request, wherever we can.

Festivals and family

Celebrations, routines and the family’s role in decisions, all respected.

How matching works

1

Tell us about them

Their language, faith, food, routines and what matters most.

2

We find the right carer

Someone who speaks their language and suits their needs. We’ll be honest about what we can offer.

3

Care begins

We try to keep the same carers wherever possible, so a familiar voice comes through the door.

Common questions

Can you guarantee the same language on every visit?

We’ll always try to match you with a carer who speaks your loved one’s language. If that isn’t possible for every visit, we’ll tell you honestly before care starts.

Do you offer every service in these languages?

Yes. Our multilingual carers provide companionship, personal care, dementia care, home help, respite and support after a hospital stay.

What if we need a language you don’t list?

Ask us. Our team is growing, and we’ll be honest about whether we can help.
